The Community Waterfront Heritage Centre is marking 10 years by holding a year-long celebration.
Chair of the board Jan Chamberlain says the centre, which runs the Marine and Rail Museum, is holding a special event each month to commemorate the milestone.
The first event is Folk for Heritage, which will be a coffeehouse style concert at the Owen Sound Legion this Saturday at 7 p.m. It will include performances from Dave and Trish Hawkins, Larry Jensen, Rob Rolfe, and Richard Yves Sitoski.
“All of them have original songs that represent the history of Owen Sound,” says Chamberlain.
Chamberlain says the event this weekend will act as a fundraiser for the centre is it aims to raise $5,000 for a new exhibit on Balmy Beach’s famous King’s Royal Hotel.
“We are going to be having a big exhibition. We have several of our members who have memorabilia that they are loaning us for that event,” says Chamberlain.
Tickets for the event will be available at the door at the Owen Sound Legion.
