Owen Sound is moving ahead with a 40 per cent increase to the price of garbage bag tags.

Council voted down a proposal from Deputy Mayor Scott Greig to reconsider at Monday night’s meeting. He needed support from two-thirds of council to reopen the discussion.
Greig was absent from a Dec. 1 budget meeting when council approved the one dollar increase to the price of a bag tag, to $3.50 each.
The formal bylaw still needs to be approved at council’s Jan. 15 meeting.
After that, a garbage bag tag in Owen Sound will cost $3.50.
