The Bruce Trail Conservancy says it will be conducting a controlled burn at the site of Vanishing Stream Nature Reserve, which they say is located off Concession 7 in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula today.
They say the aim of the controlled burn will be to continue the work of transforming the surrounding meadowlands into a native wildflower and grass habitat while reducing the amount of invasive and non-native vegetative species gaining control in the area.
Residents near Vanishing Stream Nature Reserve and the surrounding areas may see smoke for about 48 hours following the burn. They note smoke issues will be minimized by burning under specific wind directions and atmospheric conditions.
The Bruce Trail Conservancy says it’s not cause for concern and firefighting services will be on standby.
