A Bruce County committee is holding off granting draft plan approval for a proposed subdivision in South Bruce Peninsula.
The Planning and Development Committee discussed the proposed 12-lot subdivision at Chesley Lake at a meeting on Sept. 21.
The proposed subdivision would be located along Blind Line, Foreman Drive and Kimberly Lane.
Bruce County Senior Development Planner Jenn Burnett says staff requested approval be deferred after more information on the proposed subdivision was presented at a South Bruce Peninsula public meeting on Sept. 19.
She says with the additional information provided at the public meeting, they will need to return with a report on the impacts to agriculture.
“Grey Sauble Conservation Authority identified the hazards on the property to include the flood and erosion potential of the Chesley Lake wetland,” says Burnett.
Residents also spoke at the meeting, some raising concerns over traffic and road use, the removal of trees, and the use of land for agriculture.
Coun. Kenneth Craig says, “I agree that a deferral and clarification on some of these issues is definitely the right path forward.”
Staff were directed to bring back a report to the committee addressing all of the concerns surrounding the proposed subdivision.
