West Grey will be looking to update its strategic plan next week.
After a special meeting was held at the start of August, council will be meeting to update its three strategic pillars. The pillars are work together, build a better future, and promote community.
Council participated in an exercise to provide new goals for each of the pillars.
Under working together, council identified it wished to develop effective inter-municipal partnerships to facilitate the development of southwest Grey County, advocate for physician recruitment, and hire an economic development officer.
Under building a better future, council says it wants to obtain more accurate information about the condition of its infrastructure for long-term asset management planning, moving ahead with the development of the new police station, and determine the capacity for landfills and long-term waste management options.
For promoting community, council wants to promote the municipality as a tourism destination, tell more West Grey stories and celebrate local achievements and advantages, as well as produce an annual calendar of community events and regular updates.
Council can approve or revise the strategies ahead of when the final strategic plan will be presented.
Council will consider this item during its meeting on Sept. 19 at 9 a.m.
