The victim of a recent serious assault in downtown Owen Sound has died.
Sharif Rahman passed last night from injuries he suffered after being attacked outside his restaurant The Curry House last week, family members confirm. He was 44-years-old.
The horrific incident has left the community rallying to support Rahman’s family and Owen Sound Police trying to find those responsible.
Police have released some images from security cameras of silhouettes of a couple of potential suspects, and a sport utility vehicle of interest in the investigation.
City Police say a dispute led to Rahman being assaulted by three men on the sidewalk in front of The Curry House shortly after 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17. The three male suspects then fled.
Anyone who has further information or video recordings of the area near the restaurant is asked to contact Owen Sound Police at 519-376-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
There’s been an outpouring of community support for the Rahman family in wake of the vicious attack. The storefront at The Curry House is filled with flowers and supportive messages. Hundreds of people attended a quiet vigil walk earlier this week. And more than $132,000 has been raised through an online fundraiser.
