A tragedy in Owen Sound as city police say a teenager drowned in the harbour yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the west side pier just after 2 p.m. Tuesday after Owen Sound Police received a 911 call about a possible drowning.
Police say a 15-year-old male was swimming with friends in the area of the pier when he failed to surface.
The Canadian Coast Guard and Owen Sound Fire Department boat quickly attended the area to help search for the teen, but were unable to locate him.
The OPP underwater search unit recovered the young man’s body shortly after 7 p.m. yesterday evening.
