On Saturday Jesse Walker of Owen Sound will be doing a personal triathlon
This will be his 4th fundraiser dating back to 2020 and through the years he’s done 2 half marathons plus a full marathon to generate funds for Childhood Cancer Research.
Jesse Walker was a guest on the 560 CFOS Morning Show with The Great Paul Hill and he was asked how much he’s raised over the first three events he’s staged.
Jesse Walker hopes he will raise $ 25,000 Saturday which will allow him to bypass the $ 100,000 mark in funds raised through the years for Childhood Cancer research
In 2018, Walker was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer.
He underwent a successful 12-hour craniotomy to have the tumour removed. That was followed by 30 doses of spinal and cranial radiation, and then 40 doses of chemotherapy. His recovering included 16 admissions to hospital and 79 nights in hospital. Furthermore, he had 16 blood transfusions and was able to eat very little for 5 months, requiring a feeding tube to get the necessary nutrition.
