Grey Highlands is loaning out a surplus tanker to the Shelburne Fire Department.
Council approved the loan recommended by Fire Chief Marty Wellwood in a report during a meeting on July 19.
The report says the old 2021 fire and emergency services tanker is now surplus after putting a new 2023 tanker in service earlier this month. The old tanker is pending disposal through a public auction, and the estimated proceeds from the sale is about $15,000.
“We have received a request from the Shelburne Fire Department to use our surplus tanker while their tanker is being repaired. They only have one tanker and are therefore short an apparatus. They anticipate the repairs will be completed in approximately four weeks,” says the report.
