Kincardine Council is considering options for the use of the Mystic Cove Gate.
The proposal that was brought to council at their July 10th meeting was that the gate would be open from December 1st through February 28th annually for emergency access, and for use as an alternate route for bussing Bruce Power employees from the worksite when Bruce County Road 23 was closed due to inclement weather.
Mayor Kenneth Craig explained to the council that it was important to come to a decision that worked for all parties involved, saying “It’s about safety. Safety not only in the summertime because Victoria Street was never designed to be an arterial road, and safety in the wintertime to allow safe passage for emergencies of whatever kind.”
The gate is situated at the midpoint of a 5.5km stretch from the intersections of Victoria Street & Bruce Road 15 in Inverhuron and Bruce Road 23 & Lorne Beach Road.
Council will make its decision at the August 14th municipal council meeting.
