The Town of South Bruce Peninsula says planned Canada Day fireworks displays in Sauble Beach and Bluewater Park in Wiarton have been cancelled.
The Town says the fireworks will be re-scheduled at a later date once the Municipal Fire Ban and the Provincial Order designating the municipality as a Restricted Fire Zone has been lifted.
In a statement, the Town says, “As the Canada Day long weekend approaches, we continue to ask residents and visitors to adhere to the restrictions that are in place.”
The Town’s website expands on the ban by saying, “In accordance with the Provincial Order dated June 9th, 2023, South Bruce Peninsula will remain a Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) until such a time the Ministry revokes the Order.”
The following activities are prohibited:
Consumer fireworks displays or the use of pyrotechnic devices.
Campfires and recreational fires, except those taking place in organized campgrounds.
Open-air burning of any kind, including brush clearing, burn barrels, chimineas, and fire pits.
Use of outdoor fire appliances, such as fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, and outdoor ovens.
All fire permits are immediately suspended.
