Chatsworth, Georgian Bluffs, Meaford, West Grey, Grey Highlands, Southgate, The Blue Mountains and Hanover have implemented fire bans.
The bans cover open-air burning of any kind, including campfires and agricultural fires. They are in effect until further notice.
All burn permits are now suspended, statements from the municipalities’ fire chiefs say.
In Georgian Bluffs, there is an exception for fires necessary for cooking — such as at campgrounds where no other cooking implement is available. But the fire must be extinguished as soon as cooking is complete.
Owen Sound does not have a fire ban in place.
The City of Owen Sound does not have a formal burn ban in place at this time.
We do have the Open Air Burn Bylaw which already bans fires in many situations and locations including on public property, multi family homes and the downtown area. pic.twitter.com/Kk40Javtw7
