West Grey Council is supporting the local Lions Club as it gets ready to host Canada Day celebrations next month.
During a meeting on June 6, council reviewed a correspondence from the West Grey Durham Lions Club. It requested a special occasion permit to operate a snack shack at the event on July 1.
The club says they are planning on a number of attractions starting at 4 p.m. at the Durham Community Centre ball diamonds.
Some of these include live music, a rock climbing wall, bouncy castle, obstacle course, fire truck display, face painting, and a tug of war contest.
The evening will end with a fireworks display at dusk at the diamond.
Past President Jim Aitken says they are also planning on having an number of food booths present at the event and is looking forward to the festivities.
“Last year was Canada Day in Durham and it had amazing crowds. We won’t have the same numbers this year but we hope to have a good crowd,” says Aitken.
