Owen Sound police have released information about a large, prolonged police presence on the city’s east side.
Police say, on Sunday May 14th at approximately 7:15 p.m. a violent altercation occurred between two males on the street near 6 th Ave. E. and 19 th St. E.
According to police, during the altercation, a 30 year old Owen Sound male was stabbed numerous times. The victim was taken to Grey Bruce Health Services where he received emergency surgery and remains in the Intensive Care Unit.
Police say the suspect, a 34 year old male of no fixed address, remains at large. The victim and the suspect are known to each other. Throughout the day today (Monday, May 15th ), there was an increased police presence in the area as the crime scene was processed.
The Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response and Tactical and Rescue Units were also in the area and assisted in searching a nearby residence for the suspect who was not located.
Police say the incident remains under investigation by the Owen Sound Police Criminal Investigation Branch.
