The Town of Saugeen Shores is launching a survey today asking residents whether they should expand year-round dog access along the waterfront.
The town says in a release, currently it allows year-round access north of the Port Elgin Harbour and north of the Saugeen River in Southampton.
Residents will be asked if they want to allow dogs on more waterfront areas throughout the year, allowing dogs on waterfront areas during certain hours and days, and on which areas should have more access for dogs and their owners.
The town will still require owners keep their dogs under control in any permitted areas, and to clean up after their animals.
The results of the survey will be reported to council in June, as well as any comments from residents.
The survey will close May 22 at 4:30 p.m. and can be completed by visiting the municipal website here.
