Grey Highlands council is approving a planning application for a proposed housing development on the north end of Markdale.
During a meeting on May 3, council received a report from Manager of Planning Matt Rapke, recommending approving the by-law related to the planning application for the development.
The report says the proposed development involves the creation of 469 new lots on vacant lands on the east side of Highway 10, and will consist of 313 new single detached dwellings, and 156 townhouse dwellings, as well as the creation of new roads, parks, and stormwater management facilities.
This is the latest after the municipality sought to amend its official plan for the proposed development in March.
The scope of the proposal was presented to residents at a public planning hearing in June 2022, with council approving the One County Official Plan Amendment earlier this year, to expand the boundary of the Markdale settlement area to encompass the entirety of the proposed property.
The report says planning, transportation, environmental services, and building staff are still working through design details and subdivision approval conditions with the proponent.
