The Community Foundation Grey Bruce is distributing $104,000 to four local organizations.
The foundation says in a release, the funding from the Investment Readiness Program (IRP) has been awarded to Catapult Grey Bruce, Harmony Centre Owen Sound, The Meeting Place Tobermory, and Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce.
Working with the WindsorEssex Community Foundation, the awarded funding to social enterprises is part of the third and final round of the IRP, which received 38 combined applications, and awarded over $844,000 to 19 organizations across Southwestern Ontario.
Foundation Executive Director Stuart Reid says social enterprise is a type of economy which is being supported across the country by the IRP.
“Social enterprise agencies can be for profit or not for profit groups that are entities that also have some sort of community give-back as part of their mission or purpose,” says Reid. “They are in some ways supporting people or the environment or our communities.”
Chair of Catapult Grey Bruce Courtney Denard says, “as a non-profit with a social purpose to support entrepreneurs across the region, the funds will be vital for our organization’s growth as it continues to seek financing from public and private funders.”
Reid encourages local organizations who are looking for funding to keep an eye on the foundation’s website here for various supports.
