An Owen Sound based company is partnering up with a Texas company to advance green energy technology for not just Canada, but around the world.
Hydrogen Optimized says it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Flowserve Corporation last week to combine two pieces of technology in an effort to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The MOU will take Hydrogen Optimized’s RuggedCell and Flowserve’s SIHI Liquid Ring Compressor and combine them for this project.
Hydrogen Optimized President and CEO Andrew Stuart says their product takes electricity and creates clean hydrogen. While Flowserve’s Liquid Ring Compressor is able to take the hydrogen the RuggedCell produces and pressurize it, helping meet the needs of the clean hydrogen market.
“In Owen Sound, we will be demonstrating, on a small scale compared to the commercial uses, the integration of the RuggedCell system with a Flowserve SIHI compressor, and clients will be able to come see it all in operation and we can characterize the integration of the two technologies,” says Stuart. “We will have all the technologies, which can take electricity produced from green sources such as nuclear or wind, which we have in the tri-county area, and produce the purity and pressure clean hydrogen as required by clients.”
Stuart adds: “If we are trying to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, we can use this clean hydrogen to substitute coal, oil and natural gas in many industries.”
He adds they will be able to deploy this technology to not just across Canada, but also globally.
