There’s no word when Playtime Casino in Hanover will re-open after a “cyber security incident” affecting several casinos in Ontario.
Gateway Casinos temporarily closed all of its locations in Ontario — including the Hanover Casino — on Sunday afternoon and in a statement released on its social media page the company says they will remain closed in the coming days.
“Over the weekend, we detected a cyber security incident and closed our operations in Ontario. We have retained third-party cyber professionals who are working 24/7 to help us restore the IT environment,” the company says in a release.
Gateway Casinos says its “utmost concern” is the protection of personal data and information.
“At this point, we do not have any information indicating that this incident involves any compromise of personal data. However, we are in the process of notifying the relevant privacy officials and gaming regulator of the incident,” the release from the company says.
In addition to Playtime Casino Hanover, Gateway operates 11 other casinos across Ontario in Wasaga Beach, Orillia, Clinton, Chatham, London, Point Edward, Woodstock, North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie and Thunder Bay.
