The Municipality of Kincardine will be holding public consultations regarding the Mystic Cove gate next month.
During Wednesday’s council meeting, staff presented to council that there were concerns from residents of the Mystic Cove subdivision when it comes to traffic volume and speed.
The road, which was added when Mystic Cove was built in 2008, was a part of the neighbourhood’s design that would allow for emergency vehicle access and connect Victoria Street to Upper Lorne Road.
The only times the gate needs to be opened to allow for vehicle use is during inclement weather, such as the blizzard that happened this past Christmas, so employees of Bruce Power are able to get to and from the plant site.
The section of road is only open for such access if County Road 23 or sections of Highway 21 are closed to traffic, or if conditions are unsafe.
Currently, the “gated access” in the Mystic Cove subdivision is opened only at the request of Bruce Power for employee bus traffic only.
Kincardine staff will announce the public consultations once a date is selected.
