Grey Highlands council is approving a by-law to amend its official plan for a proposed development in the north end of Markdale.
During a meeting on March 15, council received a report from Manager of Planning Matt Rapke. It recommended approving the by-law to amend the official plan as needed for the proposed development, which seeks to create 469 new lots on vacant lands on the east side of Highway 10.
The report says the development would consist of 313 new single detached dwellings, and 156 townhouse dwellings, as well as the creation of new roads, parks and stormwater management facilities.
This proposed project was presented to residents at a June 2022 public planning hearing.
Council approved the amendment during its meeting on Jan. 12, but a decision was still required for the official plan amendment, and zoning by-law amendment.
The proposed development would be split into six different zones, including a residential zone, which will permit the single detached dwellings, a zone to permit the townhouses, and an open space zone where planned parks, stormwater management facilities, and pedestrian pathways will be installed.
