The United Way of Bruce Grey is holding its annual Pi Day fundraising run this weekend.
Fundraising Champion Kristy Andre says with Pi Day on March 14, this 4th annual event allows people to contribute by either purchasing a pie or taking part in a five kilometre walk or run on Saturday.
“This event is put on by the United Way Bruce Grey, OSHaRE and CMHA,” says Andre.
Pies and tickets to take part in the walk or run are $25, and those who take part in the activity will receive a special medallion. People can either take part in an organized walk or run on March 11 by gathering at the Runner’s Den, or do it by themselves.
The funds raised from the event will be split between the three organizations, with the United Way planning on using them to fund its various community programs.
“The funds will help all of our programs and funds the United Way puts on. We have the backpack program, the financial literacy program, utility assistance program, and our food program, so all of the funds will towards that on our end,” says Andre.
Andre says as of March 7, there are only seven gluten-free pumpkin pies left for purchase.
