Planning for the Lighthouse Blues Festival is underway for 2023.
President for the Blues Festival, Rick Clarke, was able to share some plans during an update with Kincardine Council during Monday’s meeting.
“Yes, Queen Street is under construction, but working with staff, we have pivoted to provide the free Saturday Street Shuffle — a huge slew of family entertainment.”
The Street Shuffle will feature five performance stages, as well as the popular children’s zone, which is free family entertainment that is held in MacPherson Park.
The five performance stages are planned for Harbour Street, Bar Down, Kincardine Legion, Dunsmoor Park, and Walker House.
There would also be artisans, and street vendors, and includes the Sunday Morning Gospel Revival at Victoria Park.
The Lighthouse Blues Festival is a not-for-profit organization that is looking to establish a premier blues festival to not only promote local and nationally touring artists but also to become an economic engine for Kincardine.
“As a not-for-profit organization, each year we direct our proceeds back to the community. In our first two years, we donated to the Davidson Centre building project, and then in 2012, we entered into an agreement with the Kincardine District Lions as they undertook the building of their splash pad.”
The Lighthouse Blues Festival is planned for July 14-16 and is celebrating 14 years.
