Walkerton Fire Chief Chris Wells says a house is a total loss following a fire on Highway 9.
Wells says they received the call about the blaze on Monday Jan. 30 at 8:31 p.m.
Wells says there were no injuries as no one was home at the time of the fire which fully engulfed the home.
He adds they have not identified the cause of the blaze and no investigation is underway right now.
“There is criteria from the Fire Marshals Office about what has to be investigated. When there is no one home and the house is completely burnt, I don’t have much to be able to investigate,” says Wells.
The Walkerton Fire Department sent 15 firefighters and five trucks to battle the blaze and had assistance from Teeswater and Mildmay.
There is no cost estimate for the damages currently.
