Meaford Council is going to review its draft 2023 budget today, which includes a proposed tax rate increase of 7.1 per cent.
In a meeting set for Jan. 30, council will be reviewing the draft as well as tax supported operating and capital budgets.
The draft also includes a number of capital projects valuing over $16 million, some of which include:
-Gillies Bridge Replacement – $220,000
-Memorial Park Entrance Road Reconstruction – $247,500
-Bayfield Street Shoreline Reconstruction – $291,209
-Harbour D Dock Replacement – $389,000
-Bridge Rehabilitation $817,000
-Bayshore Road Rehabilitation and Water Service Placement – $1,271,000
-Grey Road 7 Reconstruction – $4,184,000
Meaford will be holding a public engagement session on Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m., followed by more discussions on Feb. 23, 24, and March 20, before giving final approval on March 27.
Council is expected to discuss the 7.1 per cent increase and its impact on home-owners at its meeting today at 1 p.m.
