Scotiabank Hockey Day In Canada festivities are underway in Owen Sound.
It all kicked off Tuesday, with a hot stove with Ron MacLean at Boston Pizza. On Wednesday, people packed the Roxy Theatre in the City’s Downtown for Scotiabank Hockey Day In Canada’s The Music of Hockey. Thursday featured school visits and Maple Leafs as well as Owen Sound Attack Hockey Clinics. Thursday Wrapped up with a packed Scotiabank Hockey Day In Canada Banquet.
Friday’s events include Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada NHL Is For Everyone Breakfast with Andrew Ference, which is a ticketed event at the Bayshore Community Centre.
There’s an East Vs West high school girls Challenge Cup game, and a boy’s game (both at the Bayshore) as well as some school visits and hockey clinics as well as the Scotiabank Hockey Day In Canada celebrity and alumni classic game, followed by a post-game party.
Saturday is the big day for the event. It starts with a Stanley Cup parade at 10 a.m. from Scotiabank to Harrison Park.
An outdoor festival will be held all day at the park.
An opening ceremony with the Stanley Cup will be held at 10:45 a.m.
That’s followed by plenty of hockey games in the park, as well as Maple Leafs hockey clinics and an NHL alumni hockey clinic, public skating and shinny.
There are also featured games at the Bayshore Community Centre Saturday.
Scotiabank Girls Hockey Fest is set to go at the arena from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at 11 a.m. it’s PWHPA Team Adidas vs Team Scotia.
At 2:30 p.m. there’s an OUA women’s hockey game between the Waterloo Warriors and the Guelph Gryphons at the Bayshore Community Centre.
At 6:30, the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack host the Peterborough Petes.

Bayshore Broadcasting’s Fred Wallace hosted an Open Line show on Wednesday with a slate of guests including Curtis Sanford of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jim McManaman from the Local Organizing Committee, Dollee Meigs who plays for the University of Waterloo, Rachel Flanagan who plays for University of Guelph, Owen Sound Attack GM Dale DeGray, and Ryan Leslie from Sportsnet.
