Grey Highlands council is looking at awarding a $784,000 tender for a new pumper for Grey Highlands Fire Services.
A report is set to come forward in the first meeting of the new council on Dec. 7 from Fire Chief Marty Wellwood. It recommends awarding the tender for the pumper to Fort Garry Fire Trucks as part of the 2022 budget process for station two in Markdale.
The report says following a tender issued on Aug. 22, five submissions were received and a six-person committee reviewed each of the tenders, however, all vehicle did not fully meet tender specifications and required extra items.
The report adds after a comparison of all submissions, the 2023 pumper from Fort Garry Fire Trucks is the recommended option for purchase.
The pumper purchase was approved as part of the 2022 budget process, and as part of the 2021 budget process, $100,000 was moved into reserves to assist with the purchase of the new pumper.
For financing purposes, the report says an existing truck will be disposed of for between $10,000 to $15,000, and the remaining amount will be covered by loans.
Council will be discussing this recommendation at its meeting on Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
