Northern Bruce Peninsula council is going to consider awarding a contract for architectural consulting services for the Lion’s Head arena upgrades today.
In a meeting today, a report is set to come to council from CAO Peggy Van Mierlo-West. The report recommends awarding architectural consulting services to Salter Pilon Architecture Inc.
The report says a request for proposal (RFP) for the project closed in June. Since then, staff have been reviewing three architectural firms.
Among the submissions, Salter Pilon made a proposal of $1.1 million for over 9,000 hours of work.
The overall estimated value of the project is $10 million.
Several renovations are planned at the arena and community centre, including creating six new dressing rooms accessible to the arena floor level, creating a new multi-purpose room suitable for community presentation and gatherings, creating a new branch library space for the Bruce County Library system, and renovating the existing washrooms/building new washrooms to improve the accessibility for people with disabilities.
The firm from Barrie has been involved in numerous projects ranging schools, long-term care and health care units, and community centres, from $100,000 to over $200 million.
Council will be meeting at 1 p.m. today.
