Grey County hopes to make a number of delegations to several provincial government ministries at the upcoming Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference.
A need for increased access to supportive housing in Grey County, funding for maintaining and expanding transit service in the region and improving access to early childhood education are among the issues Grey County officials plan to speak to the province about at the annual AMO Conference, which is being held in Ottawa this summer Aug. 14-17.
Grey County Warden Selwyn Hicks says anytime the county has a chance to meet with ministers and address local issues is important, as it starts a relationship on the political level and it trickles down to the staff level where the majority of the work gets done.
“It usually starts with us pressing ministers and saying ‘these are our priorities, these are the things we are really concerned about, and here are suggestions about actions we want taken,'” says Hicks.
