Lisa Thompson and the Progressive Conservatives will continue to represent the riding of Huron-Bruce.
Thompson captured the riding in Thursday’s provincial election, earning her fourth term as the region’s representative at Queen’s Park
While Thompson has served Huron-Bruce for 11 years, the Progressive Conservatives to which she belongs have only been in power the last four.
Thompson says she has been able to get a lot done.
“The redevelopment and access point at Stephen Township Arena in Centralia, Huron Park; the Pickle Ball courts in Exeter; the community complex redevelopment in Wingham,” Thompson says.
As for what she would like to see for Ontario over the next four years, Thompson says.
“The expansion of natural gas and broadband, very very important,” she tells Bayshore Broadcasting News.
“We made a commitment to connect every community via fibre or low-orbiting satellite by 2025, and we’re going to see that through.”
In total, the Progressive Conservatives have represented Huron-Bruce for 38 years, compared to 42 for the province’s Liberals.
Thompson’s win will now bring the PCs to a tie with the Liberals for time serving Huron-Bruce, at the end of their four-year mandate.
While their time representing Huron-Bruce was short, the NDP held the riding from 1990-1995.
