A special landmark is coming to downtown Seaforth, to commemorate the late Economic Development Officer for Huron East.
Maureen Agar, the Secretary for the Seaforth BIA, says a bike rack will be dedicated Monday to the late Jan Hawley.
The bike rack will be placed in front of Huron East town hall, where Agar says Jan Hawley spent much of her time working for the community.
Jeff Orr from Orr Insurance will be donating the bike rack in Hawley’s honour.
A driving force in promoting local business across Huron County, Hawley is credited for introducing the “Win This Space” contest to the Municipality of Huron East.
“Win This Space” provided business training to would-be entrepreneurs, and is credited for the creation of several businesses across Huron County.
For their conference in 2021, the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) renamed their Pinnacle Award ‘The Jan Hawley Memorial Pinnacle Award.’
Also at the 2021 OBIAA conference, the Seaforth BIA won the ‘Marketing and Communications’ Small award for the flash mob video “Seaforth is Welcoming You”.
