The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in, after OPP officers discharged an Anti-Riot Weapon on Georgian Bay.
It says preliminary information suggests police became aware of a man on a boat on Saturday who was in possession of firearms.
The OPP had reported that the marine, aviation and emergency response unit were called to an ongoing incident in the Freddy Channel in Honey Harbour, where a distraught man was alone in a small boat drifting in the area.
Police say there was an interaction with a 72 year old man when the anti-riot weapons were discharged.
The SIU says the man was apprehended and taken to hospital, but was not diagnosed with any serious injury.
