The County of Bruce is scheduling Household Hazardous Waste Collection events for the remainder of the year.
The county says residents are encouraged to remove hazardous waste materials from their homes, garages and basements, and dispose of them in an environmentally safe manner.
To assist with this, the county will be holding 13 waste collection events over the summer and fall seasons.
Residents in Bruce county can visit the following locations to dispose of their hazardous waste:
Southampton Works Yard – Southampton
-May 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kincardine Public Works Yard – Kincardine
-May 28 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
South Bruce Public Works – Teeswater
-June 4 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Bruce County Highways Garage – Lucknow
-June 11 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Bruce County Highways Garage – Walkerton
-June 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Eastnor Landfill Site – Lion’s Head
-July 23 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Town of South Bruce Peninsula Works Garage – Wiarton
-July 30 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
St. Edmunds Landfill Site – Tobermory
-Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Bruce County Transportation Garage – Paisley
-Aug. 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Amabel Works Yard – Sauble Beach
-Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The collection events will be accepting materials including paints, propane tanks, used oil, aerosols, batteries, antifreeze, oil filters, solvents, household cleaners, fluorescent lights, fertilizers, fuel, pharmaceuticals, fire extinguishers, pesticides, and pool chemicals. The events will not be accepting commercial waste, agricultural waste, PCB’s, ammunitions, and flares.
Only containers with a volume of 30 liters or less will be accepted, and waste must be received in containers which can be disposed of.
Residents attending the event must remain in their vehicles with the windows closed and waste materials in their open truck for unloading.
