The City of Owen Sound has a new Acting Director of Public Works and Engineering.
A release from the City says Mike Crone will take on the job following the retirement of Dennis Kefalas who has been in the role since 2018.
Crone will provide leadership to the Public Works and Engineering Department in day-to-day operations, and support the many capital projects slated to take place this year.
According to the City, he has held various roles during his career, including Operations Manager with the Ontario Clean Water Agency, Manager of Public Works with the City of Owen Sound, and most recently, Operations Coordinator, providing supervision and capital support for infrastructure at Bruce Power.
City Manager Tim Simmonds says, in a release, “Mike Crone brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He knows the City well, and has a strong commitment to service excellence. On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, we are looking forward to seeing our continued success unfold this year as we welcome Mike back to the city.”
Meanwhile, Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy is also thanking the outgoing Kefalas for his work, saying, “He contributed so much to many major projects, including the first phase of the Downtown River Precinct and the Giche-name-wiikwedong Bridge rehabilitation. I wish him all the best in his retirement, and look forward to working with Mike as we continue to invest in the roads, bridges, and water infrastructure that is critical to our community.”
