Bruce County has a new Director of Transportation & Environmental Services.
Amanda Froese will begin work in the position starting February 14th, 2022, replacing Miguel Pelletier who is retiring.
Froese has been the Director of Infrastructure and Development Services for the Town of Saugeen Shores since 2017.
Now, as a member of the County’s Senior Leadership Team, a release says she will administer the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and administration requirements of the County road system, develop a Climate Change Action Plan, update the Waste Management Master Plan, and help the County respond to the challenges of COVID-19.
The County says under Froese’s leadership, the Transportation & Environmental Services team’s focus will be the following:
– Construct or maintain approximately 650 km of Bruce County roads and 148 bridges that connect local urban, industrial, commercial, and recreational centres.
– Maintain the trail network, including 80 km of bike trails
– Manage forestry initiatives, including 4,850 hectares of forest
– Guide waste diversion and disposal initiatives.
The County says Froese is an experienced leader and Licensed Professional Engineer. With the Town of Saugeen Shores, she was responsible for strategic direction and oversight for public works, engineering, environmental, and development services.
Froese holds a Bachelor of Engineering Science (Civil Engineering), and a Bachelor of Arts (Administration and Commercial Studies). She is also a Fellow of Engineers Canada, a Member of the Order of Honour with Professional Engineers Ontario, and an Executive Committee Member with the Municipal Engineers Association.
County Warden Janice Jackson says in a statement, “Infrastructure in Bruce County is evolving with traffic demands and regional growth. We extend a warm welcome to Amanda Froese, our new Director of Transportation & Environmental Services, who will carry out our recently approved Master Transportation Plan, which creates a safe and reliable transportation system to meet the needs of all residents, visitors, and businesses.” Jackson adds, “We would like to also wish former Director of Transportation & Environmental
Services, Miguel Pelletier, a very happy retirement.”
The Tow of Saugeen Shores says, “We wish Amanda Froese all the best in her new role with Bruce County.”
