Booster shot appointments open this morning for individuals 50 and up.
Starting at 8 a.m. this morning, individuals aged 50 and over will be eligible to schedule their booster dose appointment through the COVID-19 vaccination portal, by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre, through Indigenous-led vaccination clinics, select pharmacies and primary care settings.
Appointments will be booked for approximately six months (168 days) after a second dose.
The government decided to expand the eligibility of booster shots, in order to provide an extra layer of protection against COVID-19 and its variants, including Delta and Omicron.
Ontario was the first jurisdiction in Canada to begin offering third/booster doses to select vulnerable populations. To date, Ontario has administered more than 696,000 third/booster doses to Ontarians, including to 20 per cent of individuals aged 70 and over.
