The curling community has been an active place at every level in the country this week; locally, provincially & at the national level.
The Tim Hortons Olympic Trial concluded Sunday in Saskatoon.
When the last rock had been fired, Jennifer Jones edged Tracy Fleury 6-5 in an extra end to win the Women’s Division while the Men’s Division was won by Brad Gushue who edged Brad Jacobs 4-3.
Jones and Gushue will now represent Canada in Olympic Curling at Beijing
Gushue begins competition February 9th and Jones begins play the following day.
Closer to home, last night was another night in the Brokerlink Insurance Grey Bruce Major Curling League.
The scores from Week 4 along with the current standings are posted on the REMAX Grey Bruce Realty sports page.
And looking ahead, 3 rinks are confirmed to compete at the Port Elgin Chrysler 22 Ontario Tankard powered by Bruce Power.
John Epping, Glenn Howard and Pat Ferris have filled the first three spaces in the field of 8 teams.
The remainder of the field will be determined with 2 entries qualifying from the CurlOn Cashspiel at the Collingwood Curling Club December 17th- 19th & 3 additional teams advancing from the Open Qualifier January 7th-9th at the Welland Curling Club.
The Port Elgin Chrysler 22 Ontario Tankard powered by Bruce Power is February 9th-13th at The Plex in Port Elgin.
On another note, I’ll see you tonight in Meaford when the Knights face the Temiscaming Titans.
The Titans are in a 16 game win streak so that’s BIG challenge for the Knights with game time set for 7:30 pm at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
