Police services across Bruce and Grey counties are kicking off their 2021 Festive RIDE season enforcement campaign.
Grey Bruce OPP, South Bruce OPP, and municipal police services in Owen Sound, Hanover, West Grey and Saugeen Shores will be conducting RIDE programs across the region with an aim of taking alcohol and drug-impaired drivers off the roads.
In a release, police are reminding drivers no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when you plan to get behind the wheel. They say if you do plan in indulging, this upcoming holiday season, stay away from a vehicle and instead try to arrange for a designated driver, taxi or public transit.
During this time last year, police say the OPP conducted over 105 RIDE programs, resulting in 22 warning suspensions, and 25 impaired driving charges.
