Capacity limits at Barrie rec centre are being lifted for facilities that require proof of vaccination and ID.
Starting Friday (Oct. 29), hockey user groups can use facilities at full capacity (including spectators), and by Monday, Nov. 1, capacity limits will be lifted for all programs, fitness and pool activities. Gymnasium activities will be available once again as of Nov. 15. Locker rooms and showers will be open and additional spaces have been added in some programs and classes. Capacity limits will be lifted at Parkview 55+ Centre as of Nov. 1 and Allandale 55+ Centre will reopen on Nov. 15.
Drop-in activities and programs are available for registration via play.barrie.ca at Holly Community Centre, East Bayfield Community Centre and Allandale Recreation Centre. Pre-registration and COVID-19 screening is still required. Masks are required to be worn in the facilities when not eating/drinking or participating in an activity.
The increased capacity at facilities along with the need to show proof of vaccination and provide contact tracing information may cause some delays. Please arrive early for programs and be patient and respectful with City staff.
In accordance with the Provincial law, proof of vaccination is required for patrons 12 and older at recreation/culture centres. The following will be required at point of entry:
- Ontario Ministry of Health COVID-19 vaccination certificate or other Government issued vaccination record or download your proof of vaccination QR code.
- Acceptable identification which includes name & birthdate – photo ID is not required.
- Examples include birth certificate, citizenship card, driver’s license or other government issued ID.
