The painting of Meaford’s Rainbow crosswalk has been delayed due to weather.
The Municipality says in a release the painting was scheduled to be done Wednesday evening, but rainy weather forced its postponement.
The crosswalk will be located at Trowbridge Street East and Sykes Street East.
The Municipality says staff will be checking the weather for a few sunny days for the installation and notes, the work might require temporary traffic disruptions. The work is being completed as part of the 2021 line painting contract.
A statement says, “The Municipality of Meaford Council and staff are committed to an ever-increasing pathway to inclusion. Keep your eyes peeled for this beautiful new crosswalk that will include the 11 colours identified in the Progress Pride Flag representing LGBTQ+ people of colour and the trans community. The crosswalk will be a lasting symbol of how our municipality supports a diverse and inclusive community.”
A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the crosswalk is being planned. There is no set date for it yet.
