An anti-mask and anti-vaccine protest was held outside Owen Sound City Hall on Saturday.
A crowd of between 50 to 75 people showed up at city hall at around 1 p.m., when several speakers took to the steps to voice their displeasure with mandating vaccinations and the idea of vaccine passports.
Arguments were made on how mandating vaccinations goes against Canadian laws, while others said they are prepared to walk out of their jobs should their employers require them to get the shot.
Some folks in attendance said they would not get the shot due to their religious beliefs.
In an attempt to garner support from nearby drivers, signs were held up by attendees, including one from a woman which read: “Honk if you love your freedom. Segregation is illegal. Honk two times if you’re ready to fight for freedom.”
Other signs included messages of the “right to choose” and saying “no” to vaccine passports.
Some attendees were also holding election signs for the local federal People’s Party of Canada candidate Anna-Marie Fosbrooke. In a phone call with Fosbrooke, she said she was looking at attending the event.
A speaker at the event brought with him videos and articles to attempt to discredit Covid vaccines.
It was the second protest in opposition to vaccine mandates and vaccine passports in recent days outside Owen Sound City Hall.
