The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) has donated $10,000 to the Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey (WHSBG).
According to a recent news release, the NWMO’s donation to the Women’s House will provide support for some of the region’s most vulnerable women and families,
.
Recently, Women’s House began construction of a new backyard space at its Kincardine shelter.
The outdoor space includes garden planters, a playground and a fenced-in dog-run.
According to NWMO Regional Communication Manager for South Bruce, Jonathan Zettel, “The NWMO continues to support the important work being done in the communities we are working with,”
The NWMO is a not-for-profit organization implementing Canada’s plan to safely contain and isolate used nuclear fuel inside a deep geological repository in a manner that protects people and the environment for generations to come.
Canada’s plan will only proceed in an area with informed and willing hosts, where the municipality, First Nation and Métis communities, and others in the area are working together to implement it.
The NWMO plans to select a site in 2023, and two areas remain in the site selection process: the Ignace area and South Bruce.
