Provincial Police have arrested and charged a 40-year-old person of no fixed address with second degree murder, following an investigation into the discovery of human remains in southern Grey County on Christmas Eve in 2019.
In March 2020, police identified the victim as Monica Chisar of Hamilton and determined she died as a result of homicide.
OPP made the grim discovery of her remains in the area of Southgate Road 10, east of Highway 6, on Dec. 24, 2019.
Police say Chisar was reported missing by her family in September 2018, after last being seen in Hamilton on July 11, 2018.
According to the OPP, 40-year-old Ahmet Nikci of no fixed address was arrested and charged with second degree murder and indignity to a body on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Hamilton at a later date.
