A summer outing in Port Sydney has turned tragic, after two men drowned and a third was taken to hospital.
Police received reports of a drowning yesterday, when three men were last seen in the water and had not resurfaced after going down the rapids.
After an hour-long search, police say two men were located and taken to hospital, where one of them (a 23 year old man) was pronounced dead, while the third man (aged 20) was located deceased by the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
The OPP says the third man, a 22 year old, is recovering in hospital.
The names of the deceased will be withheld pending next of kin notification.
Police are reminding residents about the importance of wearing life jackets.
