Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

A unique hockey event begins today in Erie, Pennsylvania.
The PBHH Junior Showcase will run for the better part of 2 weeks allowing Ontario Hockey League players and prospects to showcase their skills for NHL scouts since the traditional hockey season in the OHL was not conducted last year.
The ” P ” in PBHH is for Owen Sound Attack defender Andrew Perrott who was most visible and active during the layoff and was a driving force in making this concept a reality.
Along with Andrew Perrott, there are almost a dozen players from the Attack, or connected to the Attack, participating at the event; Bryant, Burroughs, Chenard, Goure, Guindon, Guzda, Lawrence, McMaster, Pearson & Steen are all scheduled to be on hand.
This is a terrific initiative, designed, formulated and I expect executed extremely well to heighten the profile of players who want to be players.
And that really is the thing about NHL, or even pro hockey; how badly do you want it ?
There are countless times when I watch an NHL game and am utterly stunned to see an OHL grad I didn’t hold in high regard playing prominently in ” The Show “.
Maybe that speaks volumes about my ability to judge hockey players.
But I think more so it illustrates that given an opportunity, a motivated hockey player can springboard to success.
Alphabetically, Sean Avery, Curtis Sanford, Dan Snyder and Joel Ward are excellent Owen Sound examples of sticking with it, believing in yourself and making the most of your opportunities, no matter how small the opportunity may be.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
