The Toronto Blue Jays are coming home, or at least coming closer to home, as they open the next phase of the Major League season playing their home games out of Sahlen Field in Buffalo
Tomorrow, when the Jays host the Miami Marlins in Interleague play, the home side won’t be in Dunedin, Florida but rather in Buffalo, New York.
For Toronto, this is a return to Buffalo having played a good portion of last season there and going 17 & 9 in that field
Last year, there were no fans at Sahlen Field but for the 2021 home games there is reduced capacity with a few more than 3,000 people allowed to attend.
There are other alterations for this Buffalo stint…..
The bullpens have been taken off the field and relocated to behind the outfield walls, beyond right field there are new batting cages, additional light standards have been erected, the outfield grass has been upgraded plus the renovated clubhouse will include an updated weight room
In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy proclaims ” there’s no place like home “.
For the Blue Jays, who haven’t played in Toronto since September of 2019, even with upgrades in Buffalo, they’d likely concur with Dorothy.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
