The physician recruitment partnership between Saugeen Shores, Kincardine and Bruce Power is over.
At the April 19th meeting of Kincardine council, CAO Sharon Chambers says Bruce Power sent letters, dated April 8th, to both Kincardine and Saugeen Shores indicating they were withdrawing from the partnership after Kincardine council voted to create their own group to look for doctors.
After consultation with all parties, it was determined that a four-way partnership would not adequately address the needs of both communities.
Saugeen Shores council will deal with a similar report tonight at its regular meeting.
Saugeen Shores will continue to advance Physician Recruitment efforts locally and look for new partnerships that support Physician Recruitment on a regional basis.
Bruce Power says it will continue to support both initiatives by offering spousal employment where it can.
The original physician recruitment partnership with Bruce Power, Kincardine and Saugeen Shores was a great success, with approximately 30 physicians being recruited to the municipalities between 2010 and 2018.
