Lee Manor long-term care home in Owen Sound is receiving a $650,000 investment to fund some upgrades and improvements.
As part of a one-time federal and provincial allocation, these funds will be used to make upgrades to the manor including:
-An upgrade to the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system with better A/C ventilation to improve air quality, and helping reduce and control outbreaks
-Expanding cooling to residents’ rooms to allows residents to socially distance in the safety of their own rooms
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker, who announced the funding today says, “This investment will benefit many of the most vulnerable people in our community, providing them with the comfortable and safe living spaces they deserve.”
Part of a $100 million investment to install HVAC systems as well as other repairs to support 95 long-term-care homes across the province, these funds, according to the release, will help provide care, comfort and safety to residents.
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff says, “I am excited to see this investment between the federal and provincial government slated to improve and make upgrades to Lee Manor in Owen Sound.”
As this is a joint investment, the provincial government contributed $130,000, while the federal, $520,000.
This funding is part of a federal-provincial investment of up to $1.05 billion to help build or renovate health and safety related projects in long-term-care, education and municipalities through the Covid-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
