The Grey Transit Route will be extended to take passengers to Sauble Beach this year.
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula announced Wednesday it is collaborating with Grey County to extend the service.
Mayor Janice Jackson says in a statement, “Our Sauble business owners have told us that lack of transportation and paid parking has made it difficult for them to attract and retain seasonal employees. Council hopes that this pilot project will help address some of these challenges.”
A release says the pilot project will provide service Friday through Monday from May through September.
The Town says more information about the schedule will be communicated in the upcoming weeks.
Economic Development Officer Danielle Edwards says, “In addition to developing a solution to a specific workforce development issue, this initiative could help to reduce some of the demand for visitor parking. If promoted, visitors could park at lots outside of Sauble Beach and take the bus into the tourist district.”
The Grey transit Route is a new service launched in 2020 that currently has routes from Owen Sound to Blue Mountains, Owen Sound to Orangeville, Owen Sound to Walkerton and Owen Sound to Wiarton. Fares range from $2.50 to $5
