A new regional fire training centre is being established at the Walkerton Fire Hall.
It’s a partnership between the Municipality of Brockton and Ontario Fire College. The training centre will allow the municipality to provide in-house training to the Walkerton and Elmwood Fire Departments. It will also serve other departments in Bruce County and the surrounding area.
According to a news release from Brockton, the centre can also designate satellite locations to allow the municipality to work with fire departments in Bruce County to offer a diverse set of programs.
Representatives from the Ontario Fire College collaborated with municipal staff to develop the business plan and resources required at the regional fire training centre.
Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody says in a statement: “Brockton is excited to host a regional training centre in partnership with the Ontario Fire College. This demonstrates council’s commitment to ensuring that our firefighters in Bruce County have the training they need to protect our communities.”
